Among the best athlete to ever emerge from his home country of Cuba, El Duque is a right-handed pitcher who started for the New York Yankees during the team’s run of three World Series championships from 1998 to 2000. Following his regular season in 1999, the American League Championship Series named him Most Valuable Player (MVP).
