New Study On The Benefits of Health Supplements

Salt Lake City, Utah (May 24, 2007) 4Life Research announced today the results of a new scientific study that demonstrates significant benefits to consuming certain health supplements. The study, reported on by NPIcenter, was commissioned by the Dietary Supplement Education Alliance and utilized research conducted by the Lewin Group in 2004 and 2005. Their findings show that over the next five years, use of certain dietary supplements could provide health support for key populations in the United States and save more than $24 billion in healthcare costs.
The specific supplements included in the study were: Calcium with vitamin D, Folic Acid, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, and Lutein with zeaxanthin. Use of calcium with vitamin D within the Medicare population could potentially help avoid approximately 776,000 hospitalizations for hip fractures over the next five years. Folic acid consumption in child-bearing women could help prevent neural tube defects in babies. Omega-3 fatty acid consumption among people over age 65 could potentially save $3.2 billion in healthcare costs for coronary heart disease.
“It is very gratifying to see a study such as this,” remarked 4Life Chief Scientific Officer Calvin McCausland. “We’ve known for many years that natural supplements can greatly support our health, as they provide micronutrients that are integral to the structure and function of the body. Hopefully, more studies that provide this same kind of corroboration will help the general public realize the broad spectrum benefits of natural health supplements.”
“This new study is another great prospecting tool for our distributors,” said 4Life Chief Executive Officer David Lisonbee. “I encourage 4Life Distributors to use this study to help prospects understand the many advantages of taking natural health supplements.”
"It's wonderful to see these new study findings," commented acclaimed health author Louise Tenney. "I have reported on hundreds of natural supplements over the years and these types of studies provide great validation in our efforts to educate others on the myriad benefits of these amazing natural products."
